The calculator checks two simple rectangular floor orientations: carton length aligned with pallet length, and the carton rotated 90 degrees. It chooses the orientation that fits more cartons per layer, then calculates how many full layers fit below the maximum loaded height.
If you enter carton weight and a maximum gross pallet weight, the final capacity is reduced when weight becomes the limiting factor before space.
Common pallet presets
The included presets cover the 48 × 40 inch GMA footprint, EUR 1 at 1200 × 800 mm, EUR 2 at 1200 × 1000 mm and an 800 × 600 mm half pallet. Pallet tare weights and actual heights vary by pallet construction, repair history and pooling system, so the preset tare is only a working default.
Important loading limitation
This is an orthogonal grid estimator for identical rectangular cartons. It does not perform mixed-SKU 3D bin packing, pinwheel patterns, overhang, interlocking patterns, compression analysis or stability engineering. For a high-value load plan, verify the physical pattern and carrier requirements before shipping.

How many boxes fit on a pallet?
It depends on the box footprint, pallet footprint, allowable loaded height and gross-weight limit. Enter those values and the tool estimates the best simple rectangular orientation.
Can boxes be rotated?
Yes. The calculator compares the two 90-degree floor orientations and uses the one that fits more cartons per layer.
Does it include pallet weight?
Yes. The gross-weight check includes a preset pallet tare weight, which you can override in the calculator.
Does the result guarantee a stable pallet?
No. Capacity does not equal stability. Product crush strength, center of gravity, wrapping, interlocking and carrier rules must still be checked.
